Dr. George O’tieno, Medical Director
George Ochieng Otieno, a servant of God and believer in Christ Jesus. He is also a husband and father of three beautiful daughters. Dr. Otieno is greatly appreciative of the opportunity to serve with Touching Lives Kenya as the board Secretary and the Medical Director of Sanjweru Medical center. Growing up in the Western part of Kenya, Siaya County, he saw firsthand how access to medical services has cost many lives. His own father died in a local facility out of a treatable condition, meningeal infection, and dehydration. The facility could not afford George’s father normal saline and antibiotics he so badly needed! So, he became fatherless while at grade 12 with no hope of ever being able to make it through tertiary education. He later, by the grace of God, managed to become a consultant physician. The journey was full of God’s intervening hand. For Dr. Otieno, medicine MUST first be a calling. “I hope that in my life I can serve the underprivileged, people who cannot ordinarily afford me and my skills.”, is a driving call for George. “Touching Lives Kenya offers me the platform for realizing this desire and many more.” His prayer is that, with likeminded individuals, Touching Lives Kenya will reach out to the Sanjweru community and the Kenyan populace in general with solutions that speak to the gospel of Christ, its redeeming grace and healing power. His hope is that we will restore dignity to all regardless of ability to pay. My name is George Ochieng Otieno, a servant of God and believer in Christ Jesus. I am also a husband and father of three beautiful daughters. I am greatly appreciative of the opportunity to serve with Touching Lives Kenya as the board secretary and the medical director of Sanjweru Medical center.
Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. –Philippians 2:1-4
